Throughout the process, participants can track their progress from submission to the final awards announcement. These milestones provide complete visibility into the evaluation process while ensuring every podcast is judged fairly through our community-powered peer review system.
📥 Milestone 1 — Submission Confirmed
Your journey begins when you submit your podcast, select the categories you wish to enter, and complete your registration. Once your submission has been verified, it officially becomes part of the Open Podcast Awards.
At this stage, your podcast is assigned to the appropriate competition categories, and you become a member of the judging community. The platform also prepares your peer review assignments, matching you with podcasts from categories that do not directly compete with your own.

🔍 Milestone 2 — Community Review in Progress
Once submissions close, the peer review phase begins. Every participant receives a small number of podcasts to evaluate using the Open Podcast Awards Evaluation Framework. Review assignments are generated automatically to ensure fairness and prevent participants from reviewing podcasts that directly compete with their own submission.
While you review fellow creators, other participants from across the community are independently reviewing your podcast. Your dashboard keeps you updated by showing how many reviews have been completed, allowing you to follow your progress throughout the evaluation period.

📝 Milestone 3 — Reviews Complete
Once all assigned reviews have been completed, your evaluation is finalized. The platform combines the independent review scores and prepares your personalized evaluation report.
Every participant receives transparent scoring together with constructive written feedback from multiple reviewers. The feedback highlights your podcast’s strengths, identifies opportunities for improvement, and provides valuable insights from fellow creators.

🏅 Milestone 4 — Finalist
The highest-rated podcasts in each category are recognized as Official Finalists. Achieving Finalist status means your podcast consistently impressed multiple independent reviewers across the published evaluation criteria.
Finalists receive public recognition and are invited to showcase the official Open Podcast Awards Finalist badge on their podcast, website, and promotional materials while awaiting the final award announcement.

🏆 Milestone 5 — Award Winner
The final milestone celebrates the highest-rated podcasts in every category. Winners are determined using the combined scores from multiple independent peer reviewers, ensuring that every podcast is evaluated using the same transparent process.
Audience size, popularity, marketing budget, or industry connections never influence the results. Winners are recognized solely for the quality of their work, as determined by the collective evaluation of the podcasting community.

Every submission is evaluated using the same standardized scoring framework to ensure consistency, fairness, and transparency across all podcast genres. Judges assess each submission according to the criteria below, regardless of audience size, production budget, or popularity.
