The Open Podcast Awards are built on a simple idea: the podcasting community is capable of discovering and recognizing its own best work. Instead of relying on a small panel of judges, creators evaluate fellow creators through a transparent peer review system, making the awards fair, scalable, and truly open.
Why We Created the Open Podcast Awards
While producing Tech Stories, we discovered how many exceptional podcasts remain invisible—not because they lack quality, but because discovery often depends on audience size, marketing budgets, or established industry connections.
We began asking a simple question:
What if the podcasting community could discover itself?
That question became the foundation of the Open Podcast Awards.
Rather than relying on a small group of professional judges, every participant becomes part of the review community by evaluating a small number of podcasts from other categories. Every submission receives multiple independent reviews, transparent scoring, and constructive feedback before the highest-rated podcasts are recognized.
Our vision is to build the world’s largest podcast peer review—one where recognition is earned through the collective voice of creators around the globe.
Our Founder
As an independent podcaster, Ferdinand experienced firsthand how difficult it can be for outstanding podcasts to be discovered. After spending years creating Tech Stories, he realized that many talented creators were facing the same challenge.
Rather than creating another traditional awards competition judged by a handful of experts, he envisioned something fundamentally different—a community-powered award where every participant contributes to discovering great podcasts.
Today, together with a growing team of contributors and early supporters, that idea is becoming the Open Podcast Awards.
