Whatever you are doing right now, if you believe in it, please… continue doing it.
Without knowing, your ideas and actions might just be changing the world, right here, right now.
Here are 3 examples of people who indeed changed the world without even knowing it.
Vincent van Gogh
Painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in western art history. In a decade, he created about 2,100 artworks. His work contributed to the foundations of modern art. He was not commercially successful and, struggling with severe depression and poverty, committed suicide at the age of 37.
Joseph Ressel
As inventor of a screw-propeller, he set the foundation for a profound shift on how ships are propelled.
In 1827, Ressel received a patent for his invention. He managed to install a 1.5 m propeller into a ship, but a broken steam pipe, followed by a prohibition of operation, dragged him into bankruptcy.
Josef Ressel died during a business trip in Slovenia. He never received the deserved recognition for his invention.
Harvey Ball
It was 1963 when the cartoonist took a pen, drew a circle, gave it two eyes and a grinning mouth. The smiley was born. Harvey Ball drew the character for an insurance company. 100 badges were made and the buttons quickly became popular. In less than ten years the insurance company had sold 50 million of these buttons. Harvey Ball had none of this success. He charged the insurance company $45 for his work, and never had the idea of patenting his creation.
Thank you for believing. Your actions too can change the world.
