Last week, returning from work, I found myself stuck in traffic, waiting and waiting. Nothing seemed to go forward. Surprisingly when we reached and passed a traffic light, all the cars speeded up again.
What just happened? Was it really only the traffic light that caused all the jam? It seemed like the road was able to handle all the incomming traffic. Why did everyone need to wait so long?
It might be a good idea to have a traffic light to ensure a safe and reliable operation. However, too strict or too many of them can cause jam.
A corporate standard is also in place to ensure a safe and reliable operation.
That purchase order which need to be approved, that IT system which need to be feeded, the steering committee that decides on important matters.
Even though there would be enough time to finish all the tasks, we find ourselves waiting, not able to move forward. Waiting for the traffic light…
How many traffic lights your organization has?
