The Manufacturing Deck is a deck of cards beautifully designed to contain the main concepts for excellence in manufacturing. The deck contains 48 methods, tools and principles applied in manufacturing industries and a set of game instructions to experience these concepts in practice. Lean, 6 Sigma, Kaizen, PDCA, Problem Solving, TPM, Value Stream, Machine Effectiveness, are some of the concepts found in the deck.

It is a beautiful piece of modern design printed with TRUE LINEN B9 FINISH on SlimLine paper stock which was developed especially for cardistry and magic. It is a casino graded quality deck for all those passionate about the manufacturing industry.

Card Games
Besides providing short explanations on important concepts, there are games and simulations to be played using the Manufacturing Deck. How about learning Pull-Takt-Flow, A3 problem solving or Kata by playing cards?

Games
Game 1 – Pull-Takt-Flow
In this game, up to 5 Participants can learn the benefits of implementing pull principle, one-piece-flow, workload balancing and takt into a factory. By playing with the deck of cards, the benefits of each one of these Lean Principles becomes visible and quantified. It is a fun game to play, especially if there are 2 teams playing against each other (2 Decks of cards, paper clips and rubber bands are needed).
Game 2 – 5S
In this game, one participant will use the deck of cards to better understand the benefits of implementing 5S for organizing the working places (Sorting, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain). On hand of measurable results, the benefits of having an organized workplace are quantified and visible.
Game 3 – Problem Solving
In this game, an easy to perform magic trick is made using the cards. The participants need then to solve the problem of finding out what and how it just happened. This problem solving is lead by using the A3 problem solving method.
Game 4 – Coaching Kata
In this game, a challenge using the cards is given to the participant. The Kata coach has then the task to enable the mentee to learn and experiment as he finds his way towards the solution.
and more…
All explanations on how to play these games are provided for download with the deck.
“Learning and experiencing Manufacturing Excellence by using a deck of playing cards, is something that will spark joy and fun. “

A Logo is gently integrated into the design of the back.
The Logo of the Manufacturing has also been re-designed and can be found in the box and back of the card.

The back side of the Tuckbox has also been redesigned for a modern look and quality feeling.

“It is a beautiful piece of work, carefully designed for those passionate about the Manufacturing Industry.”

How the idea came across
The idea of creating “The Manufacturing Deck” came during my consulting work. I am an Industrial Engineer working as a consultant in the manufacturing industry. Since 10 Years I give trainings and project consulting related to Lean Manufacturing and others. Besides my profession, I am a pessionate Juggler and Magician. Whenever I have a chance, I try to combine magic into my trainings. Many visited industrial plants have pocket-cards containing basic information about the local production system. These pocket cards are usually given to new employees, so that they get familiar with the important concepts of the factory. So I asked myself… wouldn’t it be cool if instead of giving away pocket-cards, the new employee receives real playing cards? So, here they are… The playing cards for the manufacturing industy: “The Manufacturing Deck”
Costs and Quality
The deck of cards will be of premium (casino grade) quality printed by Cartamundi.
Cartamundi is presently the largest manufacturer and distributor of playing cards and board games in the world and a leader in this field since the foundation in 1765. Cartamundi produces specialist decks aimed at the world of cardistry and magic. These cards are designed specifically for the level of quality and longevity required for cardists and magicians and are printed using the exclusive TRUE LINEN B9 FINISH.
To be able to print this kind of Deck, a minimum order of 300 decks need to be purchased. This makes it impossible for one person alone to turn this project into reality.

“The final design might slightly differ from the concept images shown above. Additional Design elements for a modern look and premium feeling might be incorporated”.
