Does a messy desk affects productivity?

A 2015 study by Chae and Zhu investigated the impact of workspace organization on persistence and self-regulation. Their experiments showed that participants in messy environments persevered less on challenging tasks than those in organized spaces, suggesting that disorder depletes mental resources. This effect, however, may not apply universally, as other research indicates that messiness can sometimes foster creativity.
