Is that really important?
In fact, when it comes to improvement and innovation, this is one of the most important elements, for a simple reason: How we think about people defines how we interact with people. If you think of your colleagues as being uninterested and slow, the chances are high that you will create a place of mistrust and control. You don’t believe people can do a good job without your supervision. This way of thinking may suit routine jobs, but don’t expect innovation to happen within this line of thought.
Now, if you think of your colleagues as interested, believing people are naturally curious and willing to learn new things, you will automatically be building the foundation for trust and freedom. This trust and freedom, in turn will create the opportunity for innovation. Organizations with this line of thought are proven to be highly innovative.
How we think defines how we act. For a change in action to happen, we might first need to change how we think, and that can be quite a challenge.
Wish you a great week.
